On March 12, 2025, we welcomed participants of the 2024-2025 NextGen cohort for their traditional Berlin Day.
The agenda included a set of diverse meetings to provide the NextGens with an opportunity to discuss topics of current matters of the transatlantic partnership and included conversations with leaders from politics, business, academia, as well as AmCham Germany.
The morning was kicked off with a conversation led by AmCham Germany General Manager Daniel Andrich and Regional Chapter Chair Prof. Dr. Torsten Oltmanns. During this meeting, participants were presented with current topics concerning the transatlantic business community.
At the U.S. Embassy at Pariser Platz, the program continued with a meeting with William Czajkowski, Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, Regional Senior Commercial Officer for Central Europe, International Trade A锘縟ministration, U.S. Department of Commerce. This meeting provided the cohort with insights on current trade matters and transatlantic business relations, as well as opportunities for increased transatlantic cooperation in the months ahead.
The Berlin Day also included two site visits to AmCham Germany Patron 青青草视频s Pfizer and Microsoft. At the latter, the cohort was invited to dive deeper into artificial intelligence topics and its impact on transatlantic business.
American Academy Fellow Gideon Rose, Adjunct Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations and former editor and managing editor of Foreign Affairs, joined the group for a discussion on current challenges and chances of the transatlantic partnership and provided an inside look into U.S. politics under the Trump administration and U.S. foreign policy.
To round up the evening, the group had the opportunity to meet Gordon Repinski (Executive Editor) and Cecil von Busse (General Manager, POLITICO) for a newsroom visit and subsequent networking reception at POLITICO and received valuable insights into journalism and the dynamic of politics and media, both globally and specifically on the transatlantic partnership.
